Hello
My name is Cristina Dann Arvidson
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC, 3618) and specialist in Conflict Resolution in Vancouver, BC. I work with people across the lifespan.

People often come to therapy because they feel stuck, numb, isolated and/or in deep emotional pain. Somewhere inside they can usually sense that a more wholehearted experience of life is possible with the right support. This striving for transformation is where we begin our work together.

My background.
I have worked as a counsellor and mediator for over 15 years in public health, employee assistance, addictions treatment, restorative justice, school and private practice settings. Since the mid-90s, my work has held the common thread of collaborating with families, individuals, and organizational teams to help people thrive.

I am Level 2 AEDP™ pscyhotherapist which means I have completed over 130 hours of training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. This approach helps you access healing from the get-go. We'll deepen into the healing emotions and transform parts that lead you to feel stuck so you can feel more like yourself. I also have extensive training in Interpersonal Neurobiology™ and draw on this as overarching framework for wellness. This approach helps to identify places of rigidity or chaos in a person's life and facilitates healing by building capacity for brain integration through mindful awareness, compassionate connection, and respect for different aspects of ourselves and others. I draw on aspects of a variety of other models, including Internal Family Systems, Emotion-Focused Therapy (for Couples and Families), and Synergetic Play Therapy®.
No matter what type of therapy we might engage in together, my priority is the therapeutic relationship. We'll asses what's working or not working for you so that you can feel safe to explore what matters most to you in the context of a respectful and caring connection.

I welcome clients from all cultures, racial groups, nations, sexual orientations, gender identities and socio-economic contexts. I embrace an anti-racist, decolonizing, gender- queer- and neurodivergent-affirming stance. I aim to show up with humility, openness, and compassion with all my clients. I will gladly share more about how I locate myself in terms of identity when we meet and I invite you to share anything that will help me best support you.

I have completed San'yas Indigenous Cultural Safety training to better serve clients with indigenous backgrounds. I practice on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish people – sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), selÌ“ílÌ“witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xÊ·mÉ™θkÊ·É™y̓əm (Musqueam) nations and seek to recognize the harmful effects of colonization and engage in ways of being and relating that promote reconciliation and healing for all.
